Los Feliz Griffith Park Sunset
A sunset hike to one of the best views in LA, then a relaxed dinner in the village. Three hours, mostly outdoors, mostly free.
Los Feliz has the single best free date move in Los Angeles: the Griffith Observatory at sunset. This route builds around that anchor with a low-key dinner afterward in the village below.
Why it works
You start with something genuinely impressive, the golden hour light over the city does most of the work, and the walk gives you time to talk without the pressure of sitting across a table. Dinner after a hike feels earned, not obligatory.
Your route
Drive up to Griffith Observatory
Park in the lot or along the road. The observatory is free. Arrive before sunset for the best light and to beat the crowd.
Walk the Observatory grounds
The view from the south lawn at golden hour is one of the best free experiences in LA. Stay for the city lights if the conversation is good.
Dinner in Los Feliz Village
Walk or drive down to Hillhurst or Vermont for dinner. Keep it relaxed; the hike earned you an appetite.
Add a nightcap at the Dresden for old-Hollywood cocktail lounge atmosphere, or catch a show at the Virgil.
If the observatory is too crowded or closed, walk Fern Dell instead (shaded, pretty, quiet) and head to dinner earlier.
