COMPLETE DATE ROUTE

Downtown LA Free Culture Date

The Broad, Grand Park, and Grand Central Market in one afternoon. Almost entirely free, endlessly interesting.

3-4 hoursUnder $40

Downtown LA has more free world-class culture per square mile than anywhere in Los Angeles. This route connects the best of it on foot.

Why it works

The Broad is genuinely impressive (and free with advance tickets), Grand Park gives you space and views, and Grand Central Market lets you eat exactly what you want without choosing a restaurant together. Low commitment, high quality.

Your route

1
1:00 PM

The Broad

Reserve free timed tickets in advance at thebroad.org. Allow 60-90 minutes. The Infinity Mirrored Room is worth the internal wait.

2
2:30 PM

Grand Park + Disney Hall

Walk through Grand Park for city views, then around the outside of Walt Disney Concert Hall. The architecture itself is the attraction.

3
3:30 PM

Grand Central Market

Browse the stalls and eat whatever looks good. Split two different things from two different vendors.

❤️ If it’s going well

Walk to The Last Bookstore (453 S Spring St) for one of the most photogenic bookstores in America. Free to browse.

Plan B

If Broad tickets are unavailable, start at MOCA instead ($18) or skip to Grand Central Market and extend the food portion.
