El Portal Theatre

A 1926 vaudeville and silent movie house on Lankershim Boulevard, reopened in 2000 as the anchor of the NoHo Arts District. Three rooms sit under the one roof: the Debbie Reynolds MainStage at 360 seats, the Monroe Forum at 96, and the Stuart Rogers Theatre Tribe at 42.

What to know

Check which of the three rooms your tickets are actually in. A show in the 42-seat room is a fundamentally different evening from one in the 360-seat MainStage, and the ticket page does not always make the difference obvious.

Best for

A date with a built-in conversation afterwards, walkable to dinner and a drink

Avoid if

You want to talk during the date itself — book dinner first, not after
